Week 12: Threadit (From Free Technology for Teachers Blog - Richard Byrne)
Threadit is a new tool offered as a chrome extension by google. This extension seems very similar to video and screen recording apps like screencastify or flipgrid, but adds seamless integration with google. Users can easily share their "threads" with others in the same way they would share a google document. This takes out the added steps of downloading the video file after you finish recording it and then uploading it to a shareable platform. Also, users that your video is shared with can respond to your "thread" with their own video (similar to flipgrid). Another feature that separates Threadit from other video recording tools, is they provide a gallery of templates. See these options below:

Evan, I had not heard of Threadit before, but am eager to try it. I like that there is greater accessibility with google since it is a google extension. In my district, we don’t use google classroom, but consistently use the features of google drive. My students are very familiar with handing in a google doc or sharing a google slide, so it sounds like they would be able to follow the same process for a Threadit. With my students in mind, I definitely appreciate the fewer steps and not having to download, then attach, share, etc. Thanks for sharing! – Alison Smith
ReplyDeleteEvan, Thank you for sharing this resources. I am a frequent Flipgrid user, although I think that it is an engaging resource for students, I agree with you that there are many added steps. My students are familiar with regularly sharing and collaborating google docs and slides so I think this could be a tool they could easily learn to use. The templates is also a nice added feature to help with organization of information! -Angela Zurales, Week 12
ReplyDeleteGreat tool! I like that one doesn't need to download or upload.
